MEET OUR PEOPLE

Mr. Kelly founded SMP Consulting and the Working Partners Network.  Over the past thirty years, Ed has developed relationships with a number of fortune 1,000 companies throughout the US and the UK. He began his business career as Vice President for Program Development with one of the largest Unemployment Insurance consulting firms, Reed, Roberts in Garden City, NY. His responsibilities included developing cost containment programs for Federated Department Stores, Burger King, Union Carbide and a number of other fortune 500 companies. During the Clinton administration, Ed worked in Washington as a lobbyist for the healthcare giants Hospital Corporation of America, Humana and Universal Healthcare.  Mr. Kelly holds a BS degree from New York Institute of Technology in Engineering; and a MBA from New York University.  In addition, to his responsibilities operating SMP, Ed serves on the board of directors of AMCOMP, an international organization dedicated to professional excellence in the field of workers compensation insurance. In 2011, he was appointed to the Suffolk County Economic Advisory Counsel. This counsel comprised of local business owners is charged with the responsibility of  helping to develop a plan to create job and economic growth in Suffolk County, NY. Suffolk County is one of the largest counties in the United States with a population of over 1.5 million and an annual budget over 2.5 billion dollars. In 2012, Ed was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Committee for Cost Effective Government. Married for 44 years, Ed and wife Diane share their time living in both New York and Florida. They have two sons, Edward and Brian.

Edward Ragan

Mr. Ragan has over thirty-five years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry.  Most of his career has been involved with insuring major corporations and the development of specialized insurance/reinsurance products and programs in the United States marketplace.  He has worked in underwriting management positions for major insurance companies including The Home, AIG, Investors (IIG) and more recently an underwriting executive of Multiline & Professional Programs at Clarendon/Praetorian. He also has functioned as a program/reinsurance intermediary and wholesaler broker/GA.  He is a seasoned Expert Witness for complex coverage litigation and insurance/reinsurance industry custom and practice. Current focus is on specialty program development in areas including GL/Professional Liability, EPLI, Cyber Liability, Transportation and Workers’ Compensation.

Brian co-founded SMP and the Working Partners Network and has been instrumental in its development and success for over two decades.  His cost containment techniques and applications have saved clients millions of dollars during his leadership.  In addition to his cost containment consulting responsibilites, Brian also focuses on SMP's Partner acquistion and Partner retention.  Brian is an active and contributing member to The American Society of Workers' Comp. Professionals ("AMCOMP), a member of the Center for Cost Effective Government and holds a Property and Casualty license.  Brian graduated Dowling College in 2002 with a Bachelor in Business Administration and resides on Long Island.
 

Mr. Walker’s background includes over twenty-years experience in banking and investing including The CIT Group, Wells Fargo and Silver Point Capital.   His focuses on business planning, resource management and corporate direction.  Mr. Walker is a New York member of the Association for Corporate Growth, a member and a past speaker at the Turnaround Management Association annual panel discussion, an invited guest at the American Bankruptcy Institute Conference discussion table, and various board memberships.  He is a graduate of The Bernard Baruch College and resides on Long Island with his wife of twenty five years and two children.
